Under the Arctic Sky: Discover Halo Sky Odyssey & Halo Sky Exhibition
The Sky Above Lapland Has More to Give
Everyone comes to Lapland chasing the Northern Lights. Halo Sky invites you to look further — because nowhere else in Lapland can you pair a resident astronomer with a dedicated deep-space telescope. This is Halo Igloos' signature experience, and it exists nowhere else in the region.
Halo Sky Odyssey: An Evening Unlike Any Other
Halo Sky Odyssey is an exclusive, small-group stargazing evening led by a world-class astronomer, Mr Robert Johnstone, using a purpose-built deep-space telescope found only at Halo Igloos. While the Northern Lights dance overhead — visible to the naked eye, as they always have been — the telescope opens a window onto something far bigger: distant galaxies, glowing nebulas, star clusters, and planets, each one explained live by your host.
Peer into the Andromeda Galaxy, and you're looking at light millions of years old. It's the kind of moment that puts an entire universe into perspective — and one you simply won't find on any other Lapland tour.
Take Home a Photo of Deep Space
Here's what makes Sky Odyssey truly one of a kind: as your group observes a deep-space object through the main telescope, a second telescope captures it on camera. By the end of the night, every guest walks away with their own printed photograph of deep space — a genuine astronomical image, not a generic souvenir, and a memory no other Arctic experience can offer.

Built to Deliver, Whatever the Weather
The aurora is unpredictable — it depends entirely on solar activity, and no one can guarantee it on any given night. Halo Sky flips that uncertainty into an advantage: it's a full astronomy experience with a chance of aurora built in, not the other way around.
Clear skies mean unforgettable stargazing, possibly with the Northern Lights unfolding at the very same moment. Cloudy skies bring the Halo Sky Exhibition instead — an immersive, cinematic dive into the cosmos that keeps the magic alive indoors. Even on the coldest nights, the telescope feed streams inside. Rain or shine, clear or cloudy, this is one experience in Lapland that never falls flat.
Halo Sky Exhibition: The Cosmos, Any Time of Day
For guests who want to explore at their own pace, the Halo Sky Exhibition at the Halo Arctic Sky Deck runs throughout the day. It opens with Beyond the Aurora, an original documentary unpacking the science behind the Northern Lights and the wider cosmos, followed by an interactive gallery tracking real-time solar winds and satellite activity. Touch a real meteorite. Explore fragments of the Moon. Catch the Sky Documentary on the hour, from 11:00 to 15:00.
