Bringing Premium Hospitality to the Bothnian Bay Archipelago

Halo Igloos is bringing its high-end hospitality to the coast with Halo Arctic Island in Marjaniemi, Hailuoto. Starting construction in autumn 2026 and opening in summer 2027, the year-round resort features 25 cabins, a dedicated restaurant, and three outdoor saunas.

The destination shares the design and nature-focused values of our Rovaniemi resorts. Thanks to the new bridge connecting the city of Oulu to Hailuoto, the island’s year-round accessibility is fully established, making this remote coastal getaway easy to reach.

Halo Arctic Island (Marjaniemi, Hailuoto) is located just 50 km from Oulu Airport, 63 km from Oulu city center, and around 300 km from the Rovaniemi resort (291 km from Rovaniemi Airport).

You will find yourself surrounded by nature and tranquility without any hassle. We are remote enough to feel like the true Arctic wilderness, yet close enough to reach with absolute ease.

  • Halo Arctic Island is a new premium, year-round resort located in Marjaniemi, Hailuoto. Expanding our vision from Lapland to the Bothnian Bay coast, we are building a high-end resort designed to bring international travelers closer to the unique maritime landscape. The project is co-funded by the European Union.

  • The resort features 25 thoughtfully designed premium cabins, a dedicated restaurant serving local cuisine, and three traditional outdoor saunas. Built with minimalist Scandinavian architecture, each space is designed to provide complete comfort while keeping you deeply connected to the Nordic Nature.

  • The resort is situated at the westernmost tip of Hailuoto, in the historic village of Marjaniemi. Located close to the city of Oulu, the island is now permanently connected to the mainland by a newly completed fixed bridge. Hailuoto is the only entire municipality in Finland holding the status of a National Landscape.

  • The resort sits within walking distance of the historic Marjaniemi Lighthouse, built in 1871, and the traditional red-painted wooden fishing huts that define the coast. The surrounding area features vast sand dunes, wooden boardwalks, and pine forests, making it easy to explore the island's unique heritage on foot.

  • Following the opening of the new bridge and causeway connection, Hailuoto is accessible by car 24/7 all year round, eliminating ferry wait times. The resort in Marjaniemi is located approximately a 50-minute drive from Oulu Airport and Oulu city center.

  • Ground preparation and construction in Marjaniemi will officially begin in Autumn 2026. The grand opening of Halo Arctic Island is scheduled for Summer 2027, marking the arrival of the Oulu region’s first international-level premium resort.
