Our Story

HALO Igloos began with a simple but ambitious idea: to create a place that feels extraordinary, not through excess but through experience.

We didn’t set out to build just another luxury resort. We wanted to offer something deeper. A place where the magic of the Arctic Circle is present in every quiet moment. Where guests can slow down, breathe, and feel genuinely taken care of. Here, luxury comes from the whole experience: the silence, the sky, the sense of wonder, not just high thread-count sheets.

From the beginning, sustainability has been at the heart of everything we do. Our buildings utilize recycled and repurposed materials. We’ve chosen renewable energy sources and low-impact solutions wherever possible. We collaborate with local partners, respect traditional knowledge, and are dedicated to preserving the pristine natural environment that surrounds us.

HALO is secluded, but never cold. It’s a place to retreat and to connect. To nature, to others, and to something meaningful. Whether you stay for a night or a week, we hope you leave with something to remember.

Sustainability

At HALO Igloos, sustainability is not an afterthought; it’s a foundation.

The beauty of Lapland is fragile, and we believe it is essential to help protect it. From the materials we’ve chosen to build with, to the way we heat our spaces and guide our guests, every decision is made with care. We want future generations to experience the same crisp air, snowy silence, and northern lights that our guests enjoy today.

This is a continuous journey, and we invite our guests, partners, and community to walk it with us.

  • Our igloos are built using a mix of new and recycled materials, with designs that follow the natural contours of the land. We’ve minimized ground impact and light pollution to preserve the surrounding wilderness.

  • We prioritize renewable energy sources and energy-efficient systems. Low-consumption lighting and motion sensors help reduce unnecessary energy use across the resort.

  • Recycling stations are located throughout the resort. We sort waste carefully, reduce landfill impact, and continuously look for ways to improve our waste management practices.

  • To conserve water, we use water-saving fixtures and only change towels and bed linens upon request. Drinking water is fresh and safe from the tap.

  • The entire resort has been planned to exist in harmony with its surroundings. Trails and outdoor lighting are designed to minimize disruption to local flora and fauna.

  • We work with local staff, suppliers, and craftspeople whenever possible. This helps strengthen the local economy and keep Lapland’s traditions alive.

  • We partner only with service providers who follow strict animal welfare standards. Animals are well-fed, well-rested, and treated with the care and respect they deserve.

  • Restaurant Aurora focuses on local, seasonal ingredients with vegetarian and vegan options always available. We also take care to reduce food waste at every stage of preparation and service.

  • We make it easy for our guests to make sustainable choices: reuse towels, recycle, opt for low-impact activities, and support local businesses. If you want to do more, just ask — we’re happy to guide you.
