We begin the journey with a scenic snowmobile sleigh ride through the historic herding landscapes of Mellavaara. At the hilltop, we’ll gather inside a cozy, private kota hut to light a campfire. While your guide prepares traditional Finnish crêpes (muurinpohjalettu) over the open flame, you’ll have the chance to try your hand at lasso throwing (suopunginheitto)—a vital skill used by reindeer herders for centuries.

  • Check-In Details

    Show up at your resort transfer meeting point 10 min prior to the scheduled start. Regrettably, we cannot wait if you are late for the departure. 

    What to Bring

    • Layered, warm winter clothing 

    • Winter mittens, knit hat and scarf covering hands, head and neck 

    • Warm boots and socks suitable for cold weather

    Special Requirements

    • Children must be properly bundled up for winter conditions and accompanied by an adult at all times

    • Please note that there are no toilet facilities available at the wilderness camp

    Restrictions

    • Pets are not allowed during the experience 

    • Participation is not allowed under the influence of alcohol or drugs

    • Guests must follow the guide’s instructions at all times

    • Fire safety instructions must be followed around campfires and fireplaces

    • Guests must remain seated during snowmobile sleigh transportation unless instructed otherwise

    • The experience may be adjusted depending on weather and snow conditions
